Melhor time do mundo em maio

"Barça" and "ManU" level on points in the lead

SC Internacional Porto Alegre - the World's Club Team of the Month for May 2009

FC Barcelona and Manchester United FC, the two finalists in the European Champions League, lead common and sovereign the Club World Ranking. England‘s Premier League has four clubs among the "Top 5". Two Ukrainian clubs, among them the UEFA Cup Winners FC Shakhtyor Donetsk, are in the "Top 7". No Italian club is among the "Top 11" and with the Club Atlético de Madrid follows the second Spanish team only on the 22nd place. This is an unprecedented situation!

The World's Club Team of the Month of May is SC Internacional Porto Alegre that won all its league matches for the Brazilian championship this month and also remained undefeated in the national cup competition. In the end the Brazilian club achieved four wins and a draw and reached the semi-finals. The team from Porto Alegre amassed 40 points and improved from 32nd to 16th place in the Club World Ranking. In fact worldwide, the local rival Grêmio FB (41), FC Barcelona (41), FC Shakhtyor Donetsk (44), Club Estudiantes de La Plata (49) and Cruzeiro EC Belo Horizonte (50) all got more points in the month of May, but these clubs each lost one or two compulsory matches and with it did not meet the basic condition for this category.

Among the "Top 100" big improvements were shown above all by: besides SC Internacional Porto Alegre, five more South American clubs (Cruzeiro EC Belo Horizonte, SE Palmeiras São Paulo, Defensor SC Montevideo, Club Nacional de Football Montevideo, Caracas FC) as well as Beşiktaş JK İstanbul, KKS Lech Poznań, CS Sfaxien and FC Vaslui from Romania. Among the "Top 400" of the Club World Ranking and showing improvements of more than 100 points were: Al-Karama Horms (Syria), Vorskla Poltova (Ukraina), Al-Majd Damascus (Syria), Al-Kuwait SC Kaifan (Kuwait), FC Seoul (Republic of Korea), Real Sporting Club de Gijon (Spain), Tianjin Teda FC (China), Selangor Bukit Jalil (Malaysia) and JK Sillmamäe Kalev from Estonia.
